A beta offer
Gentle in the room. Precise on the page.
For founders, independent experts, and creators whose work has substance but whose language has not caught up.
A 1:1 clarity session and annotated Before-Branding Brief to uncover what makes the work unmistakably yours before you invest thousands in branding, a product, website, new offer, or public platform.
90-minute 1:1 session + written annotation
You are building something that matters: a practice, a product, or a public expression of your work. You know it has substance, but you cannot yet express what makes it distinctly yours.
You bring it to a strategist, designer, writer, or developer, and what comes back may be polished but still feel generic. Execution was rarely the problem. They can shape and build the work, but they cannot discover its source for you.
In the session, we uncover what makes your work unmistakably yours and turn that distinction into language others can understand and build from. We also clarify the values, strengths, audience, and purpose that allow it to take form.
This clarity before branding is yours to build. I help you build it.
The room is gentle. The inquiry is exact. I hold what you bring without judgment, and I tell you clearly where the work becomes distinct, borrowed, vague, or smaller than what you already know.
Before we meet, I'll send a few questions about where you are at and what you're circling, so I'm not starting cold, and you're not facing a blank page.
For 90 minutes, I guide the inquiry until we reach the language that is actually yours. We uncover what makes the work distinctive, then clarify the values, strengths, audience, and purpose that support it. The session can be recorded so nothing gets lost, or we can take notes together.
You write it, based on our conversation, in your own words. Not something I write for you. Something you finally can write.
I mark what already holds, where the language turns generic or incomplete, and what still needs definition. I do not rewrite the Brief for you. I help you make it precise enough to guide your own decisions and the professionals who will execute them.
You already did the real work. And sometimes confusion is still unresolved. A second 60-minute session, if needed, with my second round of annotation on your updated Brief, picks up exactly where the first one left off. So we can move you forward in building with more clarity and refinement. Booked and priced separately.
The unclear parts usually show up in these different layers.
A non-traditional coach and interdisciplinary creative.
I help people turn what's felt into what can be built.
Background
I’m a certified coach, artist, and learning experience designer. I hold two master’s degrees from Teachers College, Columbia University: one in developmental psychology and one in the design of learning technologies, as well as a Bachelor of Fine Arts. I taught creative learning design at New York University Shanghai. I have built and now run two brands: r., an AI reading partner, and The Gentle Precision, a writing publication, both shaped by my creative voice. In its first seven weeks on Substack, The Gentle Precision reached more than 200 followers and subscribers combined.
How I think
Trained across fine arts, design, psychology, and cognitive science, I move as naturally in metaphor as I do in logic. I can usually find the seam where the two meet. That's the multi-dimensional thinking this work asks for: aimed at what you're building, integrating what you're feeling and thinking.
Where this comes from
I've spent my life inquiring into things that don't share a language. Raised in Asia, lived in the U.S. for over a decade, then back again, I carry what doesn't translate easily: between languages, between aesthetics, between ways of understanding the self, between worlds that don't always agree with each other.
Years of sitting with what is tender and hard in my own life taught me how to surface what's true and find language for it. Both gave me the same instinct: sorting through what's messy internally, relationally, culturally, and finding precise words to give it form.
That is where my creative voice comes from, and it is what I bring into my work. I weave together Eastern and Western philosophies of being and doing, instead of asking you to choose one.
I've learned to recognize where a person's language turns borrowed, vague, or smaller than what they actually know, and how to stay with the inquiry until something truer starts to surface. I've watched it happen, in my own work and in the students and clients I've worked with, more than once.
Why I do this
I love branding. Branding is identity and world-building. But what I found more important and potent is the space before branding, the space that builds toward it: before a world takes shape, while you dive deep into who you are and what you want that world to do for the people who enter it. This is where personal growth and branding build on each other. Get that part right, and what follows can genuinely influence people for the better and be the real work you can stand behind. That's the growth I'm here to facilitate and the clarity I want to help you arrive at.
One live inquiry session.
One annotated Brief.
Before Branding.
That's the shape of it.
This is for you if you are building a practice, product, offer, or public body of work and know there is something distinctive in it that you have not yet learned to name.
This is not market research or brand strategy. It is the source clarity that allows both to become specific rather than generic.
